Lefkara hand embroidery purchased as a gift from David Piésold from the specialist shop of Michael Rouvis for the equivalent of £1000 while on a visit to Lefkara in April 1980.

‘Lefkarita’ was a style of work that emerged as a result of wealthy Venetian ladies visiting Cyprus for vacation – bringing with them their embroidery. Their filling/insertion stitches were combined with the surface stitches of Lefkara.
