First Professor of Embroidery/Textiles in the UK – Manchester Metropolitan University 1968–1993.

Renowned  maker of  stitched  works in both public and private collections – always abstract – the pictures result from  an artist who was the first in the UK to use embroidery stitches in a manner that made ‘the medium as the message’.

Author of numerous  books on Stitch.  Leading authority on hand embroidery – Consultant at The Calico Museum of Textiles, Ahmedabad, India, 1994-2019
